OFFICIAL RULES FOR RICOH Engagement Forum Monthly Photo Contest




  1. Eligibility. Eligibility to participate in the Contest or to win prizes is limited to individual persons at least twenty-one (21) years of age or older as of the date of entry, who are legal residents of the United States or its territories and possessions, and are members of the RICOH Engagement Forum. Employees, officers, directors, agents and representatives of Ricoh or any of its affiliates or subsidiaries, agents, professional advisors, advertising and promotional agencies, and immediate families of each are not eligible to participate or win a prize. All applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. By entering the Contest, you agree to these Official Rules and that the decision of Ricoh (the judging organization), in its sole discretion, shall be final and binding in all respects.
  2. Disclaimer. Ricoh, all participating sponsors and any of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, professional advisors, employees and agencies will not be responsible for: (a) any late, lost, misrouted, garbled or distorted or damaged transmissions or entries; (b) any Contest disruptions, injuries, losses or damages caused by events beyond the control of Ricoh; or (d) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest.
  3. Contest Period. The Contest period begins on November 26, 2014 at 9 a.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST), and ends on December 30, 2014 at 11:59:59 a.m. MST (the “Contest Period”).
  4. Entry. You may enter by going to the Contest page on the Ricoh Engagement Forum at and submitting your photo. You may enter up to three (3) photos during the Contest Period. Submit photos with commentary of 200 words or less describing the photo, the story behind the photo and the Ricoh product used to capture the image. By submitting your entry, you agree that (i) your entry does not violate any agreement by which you are bound and (ii) the photos, story or other materials submitted with your entry do not violate or infringe any third party’s copyright, trademark, other intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights. You should view your entry to ensure the images have been properly uploaded.


  1. Winner. One (1) winner will be selected based on the most creative, depictive use of the photo theme of the contest as determined by Ricoh in its sole discretion from all eligible entries received prior to 12:00pm MST on December 30, 2014. The winner will be notified by e-mail within approximately one (1) week of the selection. If the prize winner does not respond to the notification within three (3) days, is found to be ineligible, fails to execute documentation required by Ricoh, or the prize is returned as undeliverable, Ricoh may consider such prize winner to have forfeited the prize and another prize winner will be selected as time allows.


  1. Prize/Odds. In accordance with these Official Rules, the following prize will be awarded: One (1) winner will receive a PENTAX K-S1. The approximate retail value of the prize is $699.95. Odds of winning the prize depend on number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period as well as the entrant’s photo and story and cannot be determined at this time. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF ANY PRIZES ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER. All prizes will be awarded. The prize is not transferable. No substitutions or exchanges (including for cash) of the prize will be permitted, except that Ricoh reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value for any prize. All prizes are awarded “AS IS” and WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, (including, without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose).


  1. Use Rights. By entering the Contest, you consent to being placed on a mailing list for promotional and other materials. We may use your contact information to provide you with information about our company or on behalf of some of our partners, and to contact you when necessary. Personal Information that you provide is subject to our privacy policy, located at, as applicable.
  2. General Release. By entering the Contest, you release Ricoh, participating sponsors and any of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agencies (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, for any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the Contest or acceptance, possession, or use of any prize (including, without limitation, claims, costs, injuries, losses and damages related to personal injuries, death, damage to or destruction of property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light, whether intentional or unintentional), whether under a theory of contract, tort (including negligence), warranty or other theory. IN NO EVENT WILL RICOH, OR ITS RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES, AFFILIATES AND AGENTS, BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR ACCESS TO AND USE OF INTERNET SITE [insert address for site] OR THE DOWNLOADING FROM AND/OR PRINTING MATERIAL DOWNLOADED FROM SAID SITE. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, EVERYTHING ON THIS SITE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
  3. Use of Winner's Name, Likeness, etc. Except where prohibited by law, by entering the Contest, you hereby grant Ricoh the right to print, publish, broadcast and use, worldwide in any media now known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to the world wide web, at any time or times, your name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, biographical information, including the photos submitted and any description of the photo or story submitted with your entry as news or information and for advertising and promotional purposes without additional consideration; and further, Ricoh may request that the winner without such additional compensation, appear for, or provide biographical information for use in, any presentation or other activity which may include filming/audio/video/electronic or other recordings and/or interviews, as may be determined from time to time by Ricoh. Failure of winner to make such appearances or grant such rights may result in disqualification with an alternate winner or potential winner selected; and while not obligated to do so, Ricoh may, in their sole discretion, bear such reasonable costs and expenses which Ricoh, in its sole discretion, deems appropriate for winners or potential winners to appear for a presentation or other activity. As a condition of being awarded any prize, except where prohibited by law, winners may be required to execute a consent to the use of their name, address, likeness and/or prize information, without limitation, for promotional purposes without further permission or compensation.
  4. Affidavit & Release. As a condition of being awarded any prize, winners may be required to execute and deliver to Ricoh a signed affidavit of eligibility and acceptance of these Official Rules and release of liability.
  5. Copyright Notice. The Contest and all accompanying materials are copyrighted works by Ricoh or its licensors.
  6. Miscellaneous. The Contest and these Official Rules will be governed, construed and interpreted under the laws of the State of Colorado. Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of Ricoh, which are final and binding in all respects. Ricoh reserves the right to change these Official Rules at any time, in its sole discretion, and to suspend or cancel the Contest or any entrant's participation in the Contest should viruses, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond Ricoh's control affect the administration, security or proper play of the Contest or Ricoh otherwise becomes (as determined in its sole discretion) incapable of running the Contest as planned. Entrants who violate these Official Rules, tamper with the operation of the Contest or engage in any conduct that is detrimental or unfair to Ricoh, the Contest or any other entrant (in each case as determined in Ricoh's sole discretion) are subject to disqualification from entry into the Contest. Ricoh reserves the right to lock out persons whose eligibility is in question or who have been disqualified or are otherwise ineligible to enter the Contest.   7. Force Majeure. Ricoh reserves the right to change, suspend, or cancel the Contest if, in Ricoh’s sole discretion, intervening circumstances warrant such change, suspension, or cancellation. Intervening circumstances include, but are not limited to, interruption, preemption, or cancellation of publication or advertising of the Contest owing to conditions beyond Ricoh’s control, such as strikes, labor disputes, war, insurrection, revolution, terrorism, riot or other civil disturbance, earthquake, fire, flood, or other natural disasters, governmental restrictions, embargoes or other exercises of governmental authority, unavailability of supplies, components, or material, or any other cause beyond Ricoh’s control.
