I realize that I am a little late to replying to this thread, but I thought that I would include some additional information regarding your needing to set "Input Focal Length". This is a function of the Shake Reduction feature, so that it will know how to react relative to the focal length of the lens that you have mounted.

Good luck, and enjoy your new camera.

Chuck

Re: Can I use an analog Pentax lens with the Pentax K-50?

Thanks! I have a new question :) When I use a zoom, what is the focal lens that I  need to put to the camera?

I'm in love with K3. :)

When using a manual focus zoom ideally you want to set the "Input Focal Length" to whichever focal length you are actually going to shoot with. However, I have read where some shooters will select a foacl length in the middle of the available range or towards the farther end of it, in a shooting environment where the focal length required is changing faster than the time you need to make the adjustment. Such as a sporting event or children playing in a playground, etc.

Thanks for you reply!

I have this manual zoom:

  • SMC Pentax-M 40-80mm F2.8-4
  • RMC Tokina RMC 35-135 mm f3.5 (KA Mount)
  • Vivitar 80-200mm F4 MACRO FOCUSING ZOOM MC

For that It's recomendable to set:

  • 80mm
  • 135mm
  • 200mm
